Programmed

I can put up with the ridicule
And with people calling me a fool
For spending most of my free time
By writing down my thoughts in rhyme.
As I make no monetary gain
People often call me daft and insane,
But, as long as my pen has ink
And I continue to live and think
I will continue to do my own thing,
Just as a song bird continues to sing.
If I can I will keep going till I die
And if you were to ask the question, why?
I would answer, well, I really don't know,
But, then why does a plant grow?

Success

My psychiatrist is extremely nice
And gives me very good, sound advice.
There used to be stigma to seeing psychiatrists
Or to engage the services of personal therapists,
But nowadays it Is slowly becoming more acceptable
And in some places, like Hollywood, even fashionable,
If doctors take responsibility for people in distress
They should receive credit when patients achieve success.
Finding success may be by overcoming depression and sadness,
Or by coming out of a devastating phase of psychotic madness.
Mental illness used to usually mean life-long hospitalization,
But nowadays more and more people are coming to the realisation,
With modern drugs and therapy many people are achieving success,
In leading whole, fulfilling lives by finding hope and happiness!

Emotional Responses

It's not everyday that a classic song
Like 'November Rain' comes along.
It always brings a tear to my eye
When I hear it on my hi-fi.
Perhaps, you may wonder why,
When I hear a classic song, I cry.
Well, in some people it is to be found
That they express emotions the opposite way round.
Sometimes I cry when I'm happy and laugh when I'm sad,
No wonder some people might think I'm mad.
Inappropriate emotional responses may seem strange,
But, I don't see why I should try to change
As though it may seem like an unusual characteristic,
I cry when I'm realistically optimistic!

The Flight of High Hopes

Flying that's what I will. do
Fly into a challenge of opportunity
A place where dreams come true
Especially for me and you.

I will fly over the river of sadness
Shoot a star, dispersing life's hurts
Reach for the bridge of happiness
Travel in a caravan.

Move out, follow the sun.
On a voyage of discovery
Filled with joy and fun
A world of peace for everyone

I shall navigate in many directions
Seek my Horizon's and all
Collide with a prince charming
Be the belle of the ball.

Fly to the end of the universe
Would you care to be my guest?
Together we'd find a rainbow there
Rays of loving colours everywhere.

Launch a rocket into the wind
An explosion of kisses and hugs
Scatter the blues, every day is new
The Flight of High Hopes Has Come True.
