Mental Health Awareness Week 8th - 14th October
In order to increase awareness about mental illness, the Robert
Burns Centre Film Theatre, in association with NSF( Scotland ) is
screening two films, 'Girl, Interrupted' on Tuesday 10th and 'Benny
and Joon' on Thursday 19th October.
A free screening of 'Angel Baby' will also be shown at Gracefield
Arts Centre on Thursday 12th at 7.30pm followed by a discussion
with a panel of mental health professionals. For free tickets and

Carole Reed from the Rendezvous, a local National Schizophrenia
Fellowship ( Scotland ) project, said, 'although not often talked
about, mental illness affects one in ten people at some time in
their lives and can affect anybody.'
The Spiralling Aspirations 2000 Art Group are participating in
Mental Health Awareness Week by showing a 'taster exhibition' in
the Caf� at Gracefield Arts Centre from 9th - 13th October. This
will be closely followed by the main exhibition, with exhibits of
photography, painting, drawing, poetry, video arts and crafts, from
Saturday 28th October to November 25th.
The exhibition has been
supported by Dumfries & Galloway Arts Association 'Rites of
Passage' which enabled the production of 'The Hall of Mirrors'
poetry booklet.
