President Dr Janette Gardner spoke first on the subject of the questionnaire
which had been sent out some time ago, and on which she was undertaking a
detailed analysis. Issues of information and confidentiality were amongst the
most important raised.
Dr Tom Brown of the Royal College of Psychiatrists spoke about communication
from the perspective of the consultant. He too stressed the need for information,
and also underlined the issues raised by confidentiality.
Next, CE Mary Weir gave an overview of NSF(S)'s information services.
The morning session concluded with an introduction by Professor Rex Last
to the new website which he had designed. The site was formally launched by Susan
Kirkwood.
In the afternoon there were group discussions on the Millan Committee and on
Benefits. The day concluded with the Annual General Meeting.
NSF(S) Chairman Susan Kirkwood welcomed members to this annual event,
pointing out that the theme of the morning's session was communciation.
