The Internet is a vast resource of information on every topic under the sun. Currently there are around 500 million sites worldwide, and the number is increasing all the time.

This means that, even in the field of mental health, it is not possible (a) to keep tabs on every site that might be of use to you and (b) there is no guarantee that the information on these sites is accurate or up to date.

So the list that follows does not begin to aspire towards comprehensiveness, but it does try and offer two things:

Information on the 67 most common psychiatric drugs. In addition to the encyclopaedia of information on topics, such as complications of popular treatments, there is an on-line magazine full of news and articles. Inspiring reading for all are the recovery success stories.

This specialised website focuses exclusively on schizophrenia and is set up to become the world repository of information � from articles on diagnosis and treatment to tips on coping, including advice on handling crises. It hosts a number of discussion groups, including on-line support for patients, families, and friends, as well as separate forums for talking about medications and treatment � and a link to Friends and Advocates of the Mentally Ill (FAMI). Health Education Board Scotland Concentrates on what HEBS is doing. Divided into two entry points:

1 The Public Site is arranged by health topic eg Smoking, Cancer, Mental Health with short descriptions. Resources to be expanded over the next few months.
