NSF (Scotland) website praised by Scottish experts

In its commitment to improved support for and communication with carers and users of mental health services, the National Schizophrenia Fellowship (Scotland) has created a comprehensive website containing hundreds of pages of help, advice and information.

Recently entered into the Scottish Enterprise Winners at the Web competition the site, although it did not win a top prize in its category, received high praise from a team of independent advisors. It described the organisation of information as 'impressive..and designed very much with usability as the top priority'.

Of the visual impact, the team said 'this site has a highly professional and polished appearance ... and the site is highly aesthetically pleasing, which portrays the company well'.

As for the way in which the information is presented, it is 'very clear and easy to follow'. Freshness of content was also praised, because 'it is clear that the site is being maintained and updated on a regular basis'.

Rex Last, webmaster of the site, said: 'I am delighted and a bit embarrassed by the response, but the main point is that it is a huge morale boost to the Fellowship at a time of uncertainty and continuing financial difficulties. It took them great courage to take a leap into the electronic dark and commit to the new technology, and that courage has been amply rewarded'.

NSF (Scotland) is delighted with this reaction to their work in this area, not least because the third sector as a whole has been slow in taking up website technology as a central part of the delivery of services to its membership and beyond. The Fellowship is convinced that web technology does and will in the future represent an essential weapon in the fight against mental illness, its prevention, treatment and cure.

Please tell people about www.nsfscot.org.uk and encourage them to visit us and let us know what their views are about our website.
