Information Officer
Ian Harper, Information Officer has worked with NSF(Scotland) in a number of different capacities since late 1987.
As well as having worked in our drop-in centre in Edinburgh, the Stafford Centre, he has been Groups Officer. As General Manager - North he was involved in much of the Fellowship's service development during the early 1990's. He has held his current post since 1995.
Our Information Service is based at National Office and consists at present of an Information Officer with administrative assistance. Information is offered to all who enquire. Enquirers may be NSF(Scotland) members or staff, but are often people with no previous connection with the Fellowship, whose lives are affected by mental illness. Other agencies, professionals and students also make contact.
A wide range of written material is held in the Office, with internet access to other sources of information. Enquiries can be by telephone or letter, and information sent out if requested. We can respond to most calls directly ourselves, whether on schizophrenia, other mental illness, treatments, peoples' rights or services available.
There are times when other agencies are more appropriate, for example when there are very particular legal or benefits issues. We always try to provide such contacts to callers if this is the case.
There will always be a response if a message is left when the Information Officer is unavailable but in order to maximise availability there are core times for the Information Service, from 10.00 am until 3.00 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Call us on our main switchboard number: 0131557 8969 and ask for the Information Officer.
The Information Officer can also be contacted by email: [email protected]
