The Charlie Reid Centre is a community based resource for those affected by mental illness or serious mental health problems. Within the Centre there is a café which offers a place to meet friends, relax and talk. It serves an all-day menu at reasonable prices.

The café is open to the public and also provides training and employment opportunities for members.

There are a number of rooms for relaxation, recreation and activities, and a range of support services and groups for individuals directly affected, and also their families, carers and friends.

The Creative Writing Class has been running continuously for over seven years, over which time it has been exploring all manner of creative writing: poetry, fiction, drama and a diverse range of exercises designed to travel the imagination far and wide and stimulate mind, boyd and spirit. A very warm welcome is extended to new members. Feel free to sit in on one of the sessions and find out if it is the kind of thing for you.

Membership is open to anyone affected by mental illness or serious mental health problems. An initial visit is usually arranged by appointment, and will involve an informal meeting with a member of staff and a tour of the building.

After this, you may feel that the Centre is appropriate for you and you may then join by completing a membership application form.
