Edinburgh-based Projects

These are the Projects based in Edinburgh:

Edinburgh Carers Officer is based at National Office, and is open to all those caring for someone with a severe mental illness.

Severe mental illness can cause major disturbances in the way someone thinks, feels, and behaves. Life is experienced in a way that can seem very different from that of other people.
Caring for someone who suffers from a severe mental illness can be a stressful and isolating experience.
Finding a source of understanding and support can help with some of these feelings.

A Carer is anyone who has had to change their lifestyle in order to care for, or has had to take responsibility for another person who is experiencing mental health problems.

A Carer may be a relative, partner or friend, young, old or a child.
A Carer does not necessarily live with the person they care for.
If you identify with any of the above then you are a Carer.

The Edinburgh Carers Officer is available to Carers and their families and friends to provide:
  • One to One Support
  • Group Support
  • Advice
  • Information
  • Advocacy
Support, information and advice can be offered over the phone, or if preferred a home visit may be arranged.

If you wish to meet other Carers there is also a Carers Support Group in Edinburgh.
